Project 26 (3): B is for Bonfire...

The third entry in JEA's massive Project 26 is Essel Pratt's short collection, Backwards Bonfire.

This book takes the traditional theme of a group of young teens, camping in the woods, telling each other scary stories as each one does their best to outdo the last and is a highly entertaining read with several simply enthralling and thrilling tales that will keep readers on tender hooks throughout, whilst also attempting to explore through the characters what it is that makes a story scary.

I really enjoyed this and every story featured here brings something different to the table. It is a fine example of Essel Pratt's writing and a very neat and clever collection that works on several levels.

If you're looking for a short, sharp read to kill some time, and that leaves you questioning your own thoughts on what you think might make a good horror story, then this collection is for you...

But don't forget to leave the lights on...
